If you happen to have MW3, be very careful playing it online before the official release date (November 8th). Stephen Toulouse (@Stepto) , XBOX Live Director of Policy and Enforcement tweeted Thursday that it was OK to play Modern Warfare 3 pre-release as long as it is a legit copy. Today, Friday 4th, he announced that early play is not authorized so tread softly if you’re thinking about jumping into online play.

Not sure how any copies are legit, but was hoping all stats would be reset for official release but I guess that is impossible now if some copies are actually legit.

They aren’t doing anything serious. On a forum I’m a member of all the reports so far have been temporary server bans until November 8th. Because you have a legitimate copy of the game that was legally obtained they can’t do much else to you other then reset your stats (They didn’t do this with MW2 or Black Op’s so I doubt they’ll do it with MW3). So worst come’s to worst you’ll just get a temporary ban until release day.

Kmart broke the street date and put the game on shelves Wednesday night so it was no stealing or bribing them with hundreds or dollars involved in getting the game. I know people who bought every copy KMart had and are selling them online for $150-200 a piece with free overnight shipping. Then quite a few 7/11′s and Mom & Pop shop’s have put the game out as well. If you look in the right area it’s rather easy finding a copy early.

so can i play campaign and spec ops offline and will be fine?? I can wait but wouldnt mind playing campaign as long as I dont lose my profile.
